Tear Down...

Okay, after getting the neck off and also removing the neck cleat, I moved the project back down to the basement. Here is a picture showing the results.

Note the sides of the guitar where the neck attached. The heat from the pressure cooker was so great that it bubbled the finish. This is when I concluded that maybe this neck had been taken off before. The edges of the guitar were painted black where the neck met the body. This didn't look natural to me. In looking at many pictures of LG1's I had never seen this before.

BTW: I do not believe the neck cleat was glued in with hide glue. I'm not sure what the pros use on this but it came out WAY TOO HARD to be hide glue. I left the guitar alone for about 2 weeks to allow it to dry out.
