Just a few more things to address, such as 50+ years of road rash. Putting aside for a moment the major issues facing me, the amount of road rash on this guitar is quite minimal. Thanks to some great tutorials on the internet, I feel somewhat confident that I can tackle these dings. I did come away with one glaring caveat, however. For the same reason you wouldn't paint an antique, fix dings if you must, but don't refinish.
